Abstract
The objective was to characterize the structure, organization and work process of the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Commission (CFT) of the Professor Edgard Santos University Hospital Complex - HUPES Complex, located in the city of Salvador-Bahia. For this, a documentary analysis and participant observation was carried out between January and February 2020. The CFT of this hospital complex demonstrated to follow all the recommendations of the World Health Organization regarding the structure and organization such as having a multidisciplinary composition, holding monthly meetings , have the support of institutional management and other hospital committees, prepare minutes of meetings with documentation of processes and decisions, declare possible conflicts of interest and have members with technical competence for decision-making, in addition to have an adequate physical structure for the meetings. The HUPES Complex CFT was also active in the process of analyzing and incorporating new drugs in the institution. However, important aspects need to be strengthened, such as the institution of a standardized report with the formalization of the deliberations of this committee and the production of performance evaluation indicators.
