Abstract
Based on official data, describes the growth of the health sector participation in Brazilian Economy in recent years, showing that expenditures on final consumption of health goods and services increased, between 2010 and 2017, from 8,0% to 9.2% of GDP, mainly related (5.4% of GDP) to household expenses and non-profit institutions serving households. It concludes that the health sector is becoming increasingly relevant as an economic activity sector, both in terms of its participation in GDP as a generator of income and employment, and that the tendency is for this participation and relevance to increase even more.
