Abstract

Objective: To demonstrate the economic impact, from the perspective of the State Health Secretariat of Mato Grosso, of the activities developed by a Permanent Pharmacy and Therapeutic Commission (CPFT-MT) with transparent performance and based on the evaluation of health technologies. Methods: The behavior of spending on medicines not included in the lists of essential medicines of the Unified Health System was evaluated during and after the validity of a planned administrative route to give the population access to these types of medicines. Thus, expenses with direct disbursements for the acquisition of medicines were raised in order to comply with State Ordinance No. 172/2010 and lawsuits with the assistance of the Integrated Planning, Accounting and Finance System (FIPLAN). In order to bring the amounts spent to the present day, an inflationary adjustment was applied based on the Broad National Consumer Price Index (IPCA). Results: The findings pointed to expressive and constant average annual expenditures, with non-standard medications during the validity of the administrative route, with a consequent reduction in expenses with lawsuits after their revocation. This period coincides with the delivery of several works from CPFT-MT, especially the state list of medicines and construction and updating of state clinical protocols, resulting in savings for the state of R $ 6,222,196.90 (53.1%). Conclusion: The results show that a qualified and active Therapeutic Pharmacy Commission, with management support, can contribute to a better use of financial resources and cooperate with the rational use of health technologies.
