Abstract
Objective: To describe the case of implantation of the Medicines Information Center (CIM) of the State Health Department of Bahia (CIMBAHIA), from 2007 to 2110. Method: case study on the implementation of a drug information center at the State Health Secretariat of Bahia (SESAB) from 2007 to 2010. Discussion: The role and necessity of a drug information center at the State Health Department of Bahia (SESBA) is determined as a strategy to cope with the growth of the fields of public pharmaceutical assistance and ATS in Brazil and the growing demand of society by these technologies, favoring an avalanche of lawsuits with the SUS. Conclusion: The study demonstrates the relevance of the creation and operation of CIMBAHIA, filling a gap of knowledge and experience on the implementation of a CIM in the scope of a state health secretariat.
