Abstract
Objectives: To describe the implementation process of the Pharmaceutical Service State Policy in the State of Bahia. Methodology: Descriptive study based on socio-historical and documental analysis of strategic planning of Bahia State Health Secretariat (SESAB) for 2008-2009. Results: The main results of the implementation of this policy was the publication of the decree 11,935/2010, which establishes the policy; creates administrative structures; and qualified and extended drug access in the three levels of health care. Discussion: PEAF implementation process was based on legal, scientific and technical criteria and was built in a collaborative manner assistance within the State Health Plan (PES 2008- 2011). Conclusions: This process culminated in a change in management, planning and organization of the Pharmaceutical Care in SESAB structure, in particular the creation of the Superintendent of Pharmaceutical Services and various qualification structures in this area. The result of the implementation of this policy produced political stability, expansion and qualification of access to drugs in the State of Bahia.
