Abstract

Objective: The purpose of this study is to diagnose the current situation of Pharmaceutical services in the municipality of Lagarto, SE. Method: A descriptive, cross - sectional qualitative study carried out in the period from December / 2017 to April / 2018. The data were collected through the application of questionnaires addressed to the professionals responsible for Pharmaceutical services in the Municipal Health Department, and the use of a self-assessment tool for Pharmaceutical Assistance Planning (IAPAF) proposed by the Ministry of Health. Results: Of the 24 items analysed in the IAPAF, 9 were in stage 1 (worst evaluation), 12 in stage 2 (intermediate performance) and only 3 in stage 3 (situation considered ideal). The programming and storage / distribution / transport stages were the ones that presented the best results (between levels 2 and 3). On the other hand, the prescription was considered the most critical stage of the process (Level 1). Conclusion: The results demonstrate a deficiency in some stages of the planning of Pharmaceutical services in Lagarto, and the need to adopt actions that allow a better management of Pharmaceutical services, contributing to the population’s access to drugs, as well as their rational use.
