Abstract
Objective: To analyze the profile of drugs prescribed by tube to patients hospitalized to an intensive care unit (ICU). Methods: A cross-sectional study, made in November 2017, through the analysis of prescriptions of drugs used via nasoenteral tube (NET) or nasogastric tube (NGT) by patients hospitalized to an ICU of a public teaching hospital. Results: All the prescriptions were evaluated, corresponding to 138 containing prescription drugs via tube. 94.9% of the drugs were prescribed via SNE and 5.1% SNG administration. The most prescribed therapeutic category for tube use were cardiovascular and nervous system drugs; only 17,6% of the prescribed drugs had the standardized liquid pharmaceutical form to replace oral solids and, in 12,0%, the package leaflet did not recommend the use of this route due to the lack of studies. Conclusion: Given the results of the study, data has demonstrated significantly inadequacies in the practice of prescription drugs via the tube, in addition to the lack of a qualified professional to perform the evaluation of prescriptions.
