Abstract
INTRODUCTION: The hospital pharmacy is responsible for contributing to the health care process, certifying the correct use of the drug according to its prescription, avoiding errors associated with medications. Therefore, the process of unitizing medicines is a measure to minimize these errors. OBJECTIVES: Demonstrate one of the strategies adopted in a private hospital, highlighting the use of technology as a contributing factor in reducing waste and evasion of liquid medicines, verifying the benefits after implementing the equipment in the service, ensuring economic and care efficiency. METHODS: A descriptive study was carried out, with a qualitative-quantitative approach, the collection was carried out using internal data information, using the SoulMV System, from 08/2022 to 05/2023. To this end, pilot samples of four medicines were selected for analysis and comparison of prescribed versus prescribed medicines. Data processing was done using graphs. RESULTS: Using the MK5 liquid unitizer, a 5.57% reduction in medication costs was achieved, excluding the monthly cost of renting the equipment. As a result, there was a significant reduction in the total consumption of bottles, less divergence in stock and greater traceability and patient safety. CONCLUSION: It was confirmed that with the use of this machine, the contingency of expenses occurred in a more balanced way, the waste of medicines is reduced, as well as its mismanagement is significantly remedied, less exposure of medicines to microorganisms and the guaranteed precision of dosage administered.
