Abstract
Objectives: To characterize the participants who answered the experience and opinion forms of public consultations on health technology assessment, launched by Conitec from 2015 to 2021. Methods: A quantitative descriptive analysis was carried out based on the compilation and tabulation of sociodemographic data from participants in public consultations. Results: Between 2015 and 2021, 256 public consultations were conducted to evaluate medicines, 46 for procedures and 22 for health products. It was found that most of the participants are family members, friends or caregivers of patients affected by the disease related to technology under evaluation and that 70% are female. Regarding age, 48% of participants are 25-39 years old. The participation by color/ethnicity is 69% white, 24% pardo, 5% black and 2% Asian. In regard to the participants' regions of residence, 55% are from the Southeast, 18% from the South, 17% from the Northeast, 7% from the Midwest and 3% from the North. Conclusion: It is observed that even with the creation of experience and opinion forms, inequalities in the profile of the participants still exist. Evidencing these data contributes to planning future actions, in accordance with the principles of equality in the SUS and contributing to social participation to become more pluralistic, regarding age, racial, gender and regional diversity.
