Abstract

Access to pharmacological products and pharmaceutical services in the rural regions of Brazil continues to represent a significant challenge in light of the nation’s territorial and structural disparities.

In this context, itinerant pharmacies emerge as a feasible and just strategy to enhance the provision of pharmaceutical care in areas characterized by low population density and insufficient infrastructure.

Drawing on experiences already realized in various Brazilian states, these units traverse geographical and socioeconomic divides, thereby ensuring a competent pharmaceutical presence, continuity of care, and the fortification of the connection between the Unified Health System (SUS) and communities that have historically been marginalized.

To facilitate the expansion and sustainability of this model, it is crucial to engage public administrators, establish appropriate regulations, and conduct budgetary planning across all three levels of government. Mobile pharmacies ought to be regarded not as temporary solutions, but rather as enduring instruments of equity and justice within the healthcare domain.
